Soyuz-2.1a booster with military space device was successfully launched from Plesetsk spaceport, representative of Russian Ministry of Defenсe press-office management on Aerospace Defenсe troops Colonel Alexey Zolotukhin reported on Tuesday.
Colonel Zolotukhin reminded that this was the second Soyuz-2 launch from Plesetsk this year. The first launch took place on March 24 when the booster orbited Glonass-M space device.
“At 17.49, Moscow time Aerospace defence operational crews successfully launched Soyuz 2.1a medium booster with military space device for Russian Ministry of Defence needs. The launch took place in accordance with the plan,” – Zolotukhin reported.
He specified that the launch was accomplished under the guidance of Aerospace Defence troops commander Lieutenant General Alexander Golovko
Soyuz-2 space complex flight tests started at Plesetsk on November 8, 2004. For 10 years 15 Soyuz-2 booster of 1a and 1b modifications have been launched from the spaceport. Soyuz-2 booster replaced Soyuz-U that had been launched from Plesetsk from 1973 up to 2012 and orbited about 430 various space devices.
