Soyuz-2.1B booster is to be launched from Plesetsk cosmodrome on June 7, 2013 instead of June 8, 2013 planned before.

Aerospace Defense Forces official representative colonel Alexey Zolotukhin reported that the preparation works for the launch of Soyuz-2.1B booster that is to set a military satellite into the orbit at Plesetsk cosmodrome in Arkhangelsk region are over. “In accordance with the decision of Commission for military space complexes air trials the roll out of Soyuz-2.1B took place on Wednesday June 5, 2013”, – Zolotukhin stated.

He also added that the decision was made during Commission meeting under the chairmanship of Aerospace Defense Forces commander major-general Alexander Golovko.

Soyuz-2.1B modernized booster was designed according to technologies developed in Russia and from materials manufactured in Russia. It differs from the previous models by digital control system that enables to raise the accuracy of insertion into the specified orbit point, – Zolotukhin said.

The satellite to be launched belongs to Russian spy satellites of “Persona” series. Such satellites are designed on the basis of Resource-DK civil land remote sensing satellite. The first satellite of this series was launched in 2008.
