On April 25, the Space Astrophysical Observatory “Spectrum-RG” was delivered from Sheremetyevo International Airport by AN-124-100 aircraft to Baikonur Cosmodrome.

At the cosmodrome, the “Spectrum-RG” satellite in the Assembly and Testing Building will undergo pre-launch preparation, final ground tests and assembly with the upper stage.

The launch of the spacecraft into orbit will be carried out by the “Proton-M” carrier rocket (produced by Khrunichev Space Center) and the DM-03 upper stage (produced by RSC “Energia”).

Launch is scheduled for June 21, 2019.

“Spectrum-RG” is a project, aimed at creating an orbital astrophysical observatory, designed to study the Universe in the X-ray range.

Astrophysical studies are planned for 6.5 years, of which 4 years is in the mode of scanning the sky, and 2.5 years in the mode of observation of objects in the Universe according to the requests of the world scientific community.
